It is with great sadness that BARLA have been informed of the passing on Monday 4th May of Jean Girvin and Carl Roden, both of whom had been involved in the amateur game for many decades.
Jean, whose husband Ron passed away last month, was involved for many decades assisting Ron in running the North West Counties Rugby League in various positions.
Carl was a referee and a member of the Wigan Referees Society as well as a former rugby league player.
BARLA send their sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of Jean and Carl, our thoughts are with them both and all of those who know them at this sad time both within and outside the amateur game.
BARLA Chair Sue Taylor said,
“On behalf of BARLA I would to pass on my condolences and sympathy to Jeans son’s Neil and Ian whose father Ron passed away last month, and to their relatives friends within and outside the amateur game.
“Sadly Carl Roden also passed and I would like to send on my condolences to Carl’s family and friends who knew him well within and associated with game.
“Both Jean and Carl gave so much too so many, they will be missed and at this sad time are thoughts are with them all and they will be remembered. Rest in Peace both of you”
