PASSING OF FORMER BARLA BOARD OF MANAGEMENT MEMBER

BARLA have been informed by the Oldham Amateur Rugby League of the sad passing of Lester Chattein, on Saturday the 2nd February 2019.

Lester served on the Oldham District League for over 20 years later to become becoming a life member. He served on the BARLA Board of Management representing the Youth and Junior. For over 10 years Lester represented the North West Counties Youth & Junior League.

Lester was also an ex committee member of the Lancashire County where he was involved in the Youth & Junior County side. Many of the professional players in the ranks today hade been selected by  Lester for County & BARLA honours during their early days of their rugby league careers.

Lester had a great love of Amateur Rugby League & could often be seen on the touch lines on Saturday afternoons & Sunday mornings with his trusted dog and he will be a sad loss to the Amateur Rugby League game.

BARLA Vice Chair,

“ On behalf of BARLA I would say how sorry we are to be made aware of the passing of Lester and our thoughts go out to his family and relatives at this time.

“I first met Lester when I became an elected member of the BARLA Board although have seen him walking his dog at both open age and youth and junior games. I learned from his knowledge of the youth and junior game which he was so passionate about and at some board meetings during heated discussions that passion shone through and through.”

Lester’s funeral will take place at 4.15pm Friday 15th February at Bramcote Crematorium, Coventry Lane, Beeston, Bramcote, Nottinghamshire, NG9 3GJ
