BARLA have just been made aware of the passing of Moira Keaveney 82 years who died on the 18th May this year following a short illness. Her funeral will take place on the 4th June.

Moira was the wife of the late Tom Keaveney MBE who passed away on the 29th March 1994, who was co founder and National Secretary of BARLA in 1973.

BARLA would like to pass on their condolences at this sad time to Moira’s children Ann, Richard and Gerard and her grand children, great grand children, relatives and friends who all knew her Grandchildren / Great Grandchildren

“Sadly I have only just been given the sad news of the passing of Moira who together with her husband Tom I knew as a friend of both them and their family for over forty five years.

“On behalf of BARLA and as a friend my thoughts and sympathies are with her children, grandchildren, great grand children, relatives and friend who knew her within and outside the amateur game of rugby league.

“A wonderful wife and mother with Tom being wheel chair bound Moira was with Tom for every mile of his journey and present at the meetings prior to the formation of BARLA in 1973 and subsequent meetings he attended and was his right hand women.

“Moira will be missed by all who loved her and knew her, RIP Moira.”
