Marc Lovering update. Re: Sport England support

Dear Clubs

As discussed during yesterday’s call with the Community Board, we have today received the following update from Sport England. As you’ll see, it contains a number of offers and opportunities for community clubs and charitable organisations  to provide the tangible assistance that is so desperately needed.

Beneath a headline figure of up to £195m funding available to help the community sport and physical activity sector, the key points are:

  • A £20 million Community Emergency Fund, which will be opened immediately for local clubs and community organisations to bid into. Grants between £300 and £10,000 are available here

  • A £5 million pot for existing partners to bid into if they are facing specific and immediate financial difficulty

  • An additional £55 million to support sectors during an ongoing period of restrictions, to fund new and innovative ways to keep people active and then, when the period of restrictions is over, to help organisations get back to business and adjust to a different environment

  • A £115 million rollover of current funding into 2021/22 to give long term certainty to over 100 well established partners who play a vital role in the delivery of sport and physical activity in England – this includes Sport England’s support of Rugby League.

The package is additional to any funding support provided by the Government which can be found here and also contained within the attached presentation.

Sport England is also working closely with Local Authorities and the organisations who run their leisure facilities and has been actively supporting this part of the sector to access the Government support now available.

In addition to this you have previously been asked to complete a Club Health Check, and thank you to those that have done this, can I please ask that you complete this as a matter urgency and send to john.mcmullen@rfl.uk.com

Thanks again for all you continue to do for the game, especially in these unprecedented times. If you need any further information or advice at any point, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Marc
