WETHERBY BULLDOGS 20

CASTLEFORD LOCK LANE 8

LD Nutrition Stadium

Featherstone Rovers RLFC

Wetherby Bulldogs defeated Castleford Lock Lane showing their power in attack and defence scoring all their points in an entertaining first half, Lane showed a never say day attitude in the second half scoring a brace themselves and keeping their tryline shut.

The damage though was done in the opening thirty as the Bulldogs playing up the slope took the game to their opponents although the latter began the brighter.

Their opening try came on 12 minutes when prop Ben Mayhew crashed over under the posts from the play the ball and Sam Little added the first of his four from four.

Only an ankle tap on winger Paddy Tolan stopped a second try but it did come on 18 minutes when they attacked down the left channel and winger Kyle Davis went over in the corner to double the lead to 12-0.

With five minutes of the half nothing looked on when standoff Oliver Field took a play the ball but he saw a gap went through it go 30 metres by the posts to score and on the stroke of half time they kicked a penalty to lead 20-0.

Following a sin binning the Lane came back into the game on 38 minutes as the Bulldogs failed to take a crossfield bomb on the last tackle and loose forward Taylor Hardwick reacted first to score.

With nine minutes left Lane doubled their points following pressure and back to back sets and great handling by them saw second rower Mark Kirkbright score in the corner.

They then had the same player once again sin binned for dissent and the Bulldogs finished worthy winners.
