Leeds Irish Clovers put on a great display of both attacking and defensive rugby league scoring three tries in each half against a gallant Castleford Lock Lane side who gave it everything scoring a try in each half.
Clovers captain Lucas Green led by example with a man of the match display scoring three tries, kicking a goal, making tries, big hits and well supported by his team.
Playing up the slope the Clovers got on top after an impressive start by the Lane and only stout defence stopped them scoring. As the pressure built Clovers ran the ball down the line and second row forward Rocco Heaton went over for the first of his double and loose forward Green added a touchline conversion.
Four minutes later it was 10-0 as Green shimmied and dummied to scoot in for a fine individual effort. Lane responded though cutting the lead to six points when second rower Harry Evans scored out wide.
Two minutes from the break Clovers took a twelve point lead when Green drove through the Lane defence to go under the posts and Owen Mochrie added the extras.
In the second half Clovers scored two converted tries in three minutes to ensure no Lane comeback. On 29 minutes Green completed his treble bulldozing over the line and he made a further break before unselfishly putting James Hudson in under the posts, Oliver Whitford adding both extras.
Lane continued to battle and Ryan Joseph finished off a great move to score, Noah Booth adding the extras before Clovers had the last word seven minutes from time when Rocco scored his second
