The scoreline may have been low the reason being great defence from both sides which prevented numerous scoring chances and credit to that must go to the players and coaches of both sides with all giving one hundred per cent.

Stanningley started the brighter and opened the scoring on the last tackle after being camped on the Siddal for a number of minutes and from a crossfield bomb centre and captain Ethaine Wainwright scored in the corner.

Siddal playing up the slope came back into the game and had a couple of chances and levelled the game up in first half injury time when the ball went down the right channel and winger Joe Moriarty.

Stanningley started the brighter in the second and following a penalty they took the lead in the opening minutes of the second half when from the play the loose forward Nicholas Staveley drove out wide to score what turned out to be the match winning try.

As hard as they tried Siddal couldn’t level the match as a result of fantastic Stanningley defence in which player of the match Denive Balmforth was outstanding none more so than an ankle tap tackle that prevented Siddal going all the way.
