Stanningley put on a great show in winning this final five tries against a resilient, plucky performance from Hull Wyke who never gave up and were rewarded with the last try of the game from their efforts over forty minutes.
Wyke got off to the start as they knocked on from the kick off but their defence held firm on their own line and it was end to end in the opening ten.
But Stanningley got on top in the second quarter through their bigger pack and backs to score three unanswered tries for a 16-0 lead.
On 10 minutes when second row forward James Hattersley burst forward and drove over under the posts and Elliott Fox kicked the first of two goals from four attempts.
On their next set they increased the lead to ten points when centre Roman Sharma took the ball and found a gap to burst through the left channel to score.
With two minutes of the half remaining Wyke were in the ascendancy trying to pull a try back when substitute Lore Jones Buchanan intercepted to score leaving defenders trailing behind him and Noah Broadbent added the extras.
Stanningley continued as they had ended the first half and made Wyke pay after they conceded a penalty and from pressing the line second rower Broadbent who was outstanding throughout the game went over by the posts for a six pointer.
Wyke battled on but lost the ball several times when in good positions to begin an attack with Stanningley either winning the scrums or dropping on the loose carries.
Stanningley scored their final points of the game when they attacked down their left channel and good hands saw the go out to loose forward Callum Smith who sneaked over in the corner with three minutes remaining.
On 39 minutes Wyke got what they deserved over the game when they got the ball back and loose forward Declan Williamson looked to be held on the tryline but he managed to offload to winger Ollie Brimble to touched down in the corner, but scrum half Joseph Thompson couldn’t add the extras.
