Bartlett Barla u12`s Final

LD Nutrition Stadium

Featherstone Rovers RLFC

East Leeds edged out Castleford Lock Lane in which both sides gave their all until the final whistle and both sides and coaches can be proud of their efforts.

Both teams attempted to get on top with the defences holding well on top of some some tigerish tackling but East Leeds playing up the slope in the first half opened the scoring on the last tackle when fullback Cai Taylor collected a crossfield bomb to score in the corner.

East Leeds began to get on top with their forward drives and they doubled their lead on 15 minutes when loose forward Connor Saynor drove over for a try to make it 8-0.

Leeds got off to a flyer in the opening minute of the second half and second row forward Bobby Freer made a great break through the Lane defence on 21 minutes to give his side a 12-0 lead.

Lane battled hard to come back into the game but Leeds defence held firm until five minutes from time when centre Sam Waterhead took the ball on the wing and sprinted 35 metres up the touchline to score in the corner.

They then got some momentum to get back in the game and great handling saw second row forward Samuel Darley touchdown in the left corner to make it 12-8 with a minute left.

Sadly for them they ran out of time to a relieved Leeds side.
