BARLA PRESS RELEASE

BARLA DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THE BARLA GREAT BRITAIN UNDER 23 TOUR OF ITALY

The BARLA Board of Management has agreed to pay out a substantial sum to the players, management and families of the BARLA Great Britain Under 23 Tour of Italy.

Logistical problems were encountered by the tour party which saw them miss the scheduled flight home and hasty arrangements were made by management to ensure the safe return of all concerned to this country and back to their homes. This saw parties arriving in different parts of the country as well as their original destination.

This brought unexpected expense to a large number of parties and although Insurance claims are being processed this could be a lengthy procedure.

An enquiry is taking place in relation to the responsibility of the departure from Italy.

BARLA Chair Spen Allison,

“We have been made aware that a number of people through no fault of their own who have had to pay additional expense to return home following the completion of the BARLA Great Britain Under 23 Tour of Italy. Although claims are ongoing through insurance claims we are aware that this could be a lengthy process.

“As the players and management are representing their country BARLA feel they owe them all a duty of care given the recent economic problems country wide and have agreed to pay them the unnecessary expense that was brought to them following them missing the original flight home.”
