Long serving Hunslet committeeman Jack Beadnall has passed away at the age of 91.
Mr Beadnall served the club in various capacities for many years, including as an organiser of the famous “Jam Jar” fund that helped the club survive in the 1920.
He was also a founder member of the famous Bisons amateur club which was hugely successful for many years and which merged with Garden Gate and Brassmoulders in the mid-90s to form Hunslet Warriors.
The Bisons club produced may famous players, none more so than former Great Britain Internationals Mick Shoebottom and Trevor Skerret, along with BARLA player of the year Mick Appleyard. Appleyard also captained the BARLA international side on their tour of PNG and Australia.
Known as “Mr Bison”, he also sat on the Leeds League committee and was a BARLA Life member. He was very much a “worker” and was often seen working on the gate at home games.
His funeral will be held on Monday April 3 at Hunslet Parish Church (11.00am), followed by a gathering of mourners at the South Leeds Stadium.
