RFL Benevolent Fund – Fundraising Easter Weekend

As I am sure most of you are aware the RFL have set up the Rugby League Benevolent Fund which aims to support players whose lives are affected by serious injuries sustained while playing the game.

The Fund - which already contains monies generated by the successful 2005 Rugby Football League President’s Ball - will generate further income in a variety of ways.

Significantly it will receive £1 from every ticket sold for all future Powergen Challenge Cup Finals and engage Super League Grand Finals from 2006 onwards. The profits from all future RFL President’s Balls will also go into the fund.

Every professional club has given support to earmarking Easter as a major fund raising weekend for the Benevolent Fund.

I am therefore asking that your club hold either a raffle, bucket collection or make a donation for this worthwhile cause.

To this end I have asked Kelly Barrett to co-ordinate this project and accordingly, I would be grateful if you could confirm to her your clubs proposals over the Easter Weekend no later than Monday 27th March 2006.

All funds received should be forwarded to Kelly Barrett at West Yorkshire House, 4 New North Parade, Huddersfield, HD1 5JP who will then in turn arrange for the presentation of one composite cheque to be given to the RFL Benevolent Fund on behalf of the Community Game.

Your cooperation in this matter would be most appreciated.

Yours sincerely
