The BARLA Great Britain Lions open age team embark on a 17 day trip to Australia to take part in a three match tour which will see them take on teams from Coffs Harbour, Port McQuarie and finally South Sydney
The Squad fly out on Monday the 26th August at 10.00pm from Manchester Airport arriving in Coffs Harbour at 2.30 pm on Wednesday 28th August
The squad will have little or no time to find their feet before taking on a Coffs Harbour Comets on Saturday 30th of August. The first match is going to be possibly the hardest match of the tour as the opposition the Coffs Harbour Comets will select a team from the best players from the area which will include PRESTON CAMPBELL the former Indigenous Australian rugby league player who played for the Gold Coast Titans, Cronulla Sutherland, and the Penrith Panthers. Campbell won the most prestigious individual award in the ARL when he was named the Dally M player of the year in 2001 beating Andrews Johns by 1 vote

The Touring Party travel down to Port McQuarie by coach which will take approximately 4 hours before setting up camp for a match against Port McQuarie on Tuesday 3rd September with an evening kick off.

The Party then continue their journey southwards on Thursday 5th September staying at the Coogee Bay Hotel where they will be the guest of the South Sydney Rabbitohs. The touring party have been invited by the South Sydney Club to famous ANZ Stadium on the Friday night where they will be playing the Roosters in what many pundits believe will be their Grand Final rehersal (at present the teams are lying 1st & 2nd in the Telstra Premiership ).

The Lions will complete their tour with a game against the Rabbitohs at the Redfern Oval on Saturday the 7th September 2.00pm kick off. The touring party will leave Australia on Tues the 10th arriving back in Manchester at lunchtime on the 11th of September.
