Leeds Akademiks are on the look-out for opposition for their
second team after once again attracting large numbers to training for their
second season in the Rugby League Conference.
The Akademiks’ first team will be amongst the contenders
in the Yorkshire division of the RLC but are also aiming to provide their second
team with weekly fixtures. The club is looking to hear from any teams who would
be interested in taking on their reserve side this summer, whether they be other
second teams, new clubs planning to join the RLC next year, forces/works teams,
winter Barla clubs or even social sides.
A club spokesman said: “We have a large number of players
at the club who are completely new to the game, so it’s important that
we can offer them plenty of in-game experience. We will be taking two teams
across to Hull this weekend for a double header but unfortunately only a couple
of other clubs in our division run two teams so we are keen to hear from any
other clubs or organisations who would be able to provide opposition for our
second team.”
