The BARLA Tetley’s Bitter Yorkshire Cup continues to gather momentum as it approaches it’s final rounds with just sixteen teams remaining from the original seventy seven.
Shock team of the tournament so far, Ossett Trinity will be hoping to continue their electrifying cup form having already bundled out CMS Yorkshire League Premier Division pacesetters Stanley Rangers as well as Cup holders Townville in a thrilling 18-10 victory in the last round. Trinity have a difficult trip to Leeds to play ’96 cup winners Queens, but with two big scalps in the bag already they should be full of confidence.
Elsewhere, Humberside plays host to the derby of the round as Norland have home advantage against Sutton Trust in what is likely to be a close faught encounter. Both sides managed to rack up plenty of points in the last round with Norland scoring eighty eight and Sutton posting forty three, but this game is sure to be a lot tighter.
Pennine League Premier Division title hopefuls Elland will be hoping to continue their winning ways against Wakefield side Westgate Redoubt. Westgate, currently towards the bottom of the CMS Yorkshire League Premier Division, have had a mixed start to the season and will find it difficult against a powerful Elland side who have scored no less than one hundred and thirty five points in their last two cup outings. |
