Wigan St Judes .. (4) 16
Hindley .. (14) 14
Joe Fitzsimmons at Parsons Meadow
The local derby in the BARLA National under 18’s cup first round went the way of Judes who now move in to the last 16.
It was Hindley who drew first blood when they took the lead through a Luke Kenyon try on 15 minutes. Judes hit back - against the run of play - with a Callum O’Conner try 5 minutes later.
At this point Hindley were well on top and tries from James Worthington and Cameron Marsden plus a goal from James Lucas, gave the visitors a healthy 14 - 4 at the interval.
Judes clawed their way back into the game on 45 minutes with a Richard Gibson try, goaled by Keiron Ford, to reduce the gap to 14 - 10.
From this moment it was game on and the result was well and truly in the balance when, in the last 10 minutes, Judes snatched the win with a Bradley Roden try goaled again by Ford.
Next up for Judes in round two, Shaw Cross Sharks (Dewsbury) are the visitors on Sunday 15th January 2012.
