| BARLA GREAT BRITAIN UNDER 19 MANAGER NAMED
|
|
 |
BARLA are pleased to announce that they have appointed 52yrs old Dave Roberts of Wakefield, the Chair of Eastmoor Dragons ARLFC as the BARLA Great Britain Under 19 Manager. He will be in charge of the international structure at this age group and he has been tasked with appointing his own management and coaching team to take the game forward on the organisations international pathway.
This season Dave was the manager of the Yorkshire Under 19 side which played in the Three Counties Tri Series and he as been involved in the amateur game from the age of sixteen when he began playing for Eastmoor Dragons and as been a one club man ever since.
He played at the club until the age of twenty six when he had to retire from the game following after ripping his medial and cruciate ligaments. He immediately went into coaching and took charge of the clubs Under 18 side for the following seventeen years. During this tenure he was joint Head Coach Yorkshire Under 18 side, and the Yorkshire Youth League, Head Coach of Wakefield & District Inter Town side.
Dave continued his involvement in the game and within in the club to his present position and his involvement with the county side.
On his appointment Dave said
“I was pleased when I was asked to be involved in the County set up was a good honour and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I saw the advertisement in the paper for this prestigious position and I decided to apply to see if I could use my experience for the good of the game. To be even considered to be in the running for this prestigious appointment and interviewed for the appointment was a great honour and I was over the moon when I was informed.
“I have great support from my family which makes what I want to do in this position easier. I hope that my thirty six years in the game can help succeed in this appointment and with the wealth of knowledge gained in that time especially at youth level.
“I have been asked to look for an assistant manager and also appoint the coaching staff for the BARLA Great Britain Under 19 side. I am a hands on person and have been throughout my coaching career and when I have these positions in place I will be sitting down with everyone with an open style management so that everyone involved knows were they are going.”
