| Kukri North West Counties League Round Up |
|
 |
BLACKBROOK coasted into the second round of the BARLA National Cup with a 44-4 triumph overe National Conference second division side Heworth.
That has given them a home tie with Stanningley or York Acorn,
The York side drew first blood with a try from Mike Crossman, but after that it was one-way traffic.
Tries from Barry McGilvray, Mike Webster, Danny Davies and Craig Lyon, plus two Mark Forber goals, put Blackbrook 20-4 ahead at the break.
The domination continued after the break with tries from Forber (50 yards), Steve Davies (75 yards), Steve Marsh and man of the match, full back Tom Cunningham. Forber kicked all four goals.
Bank Quay Bulls made it four teams on 14 points at the top of the Kukri NW Counties League premier division with a 46-10 triumph at Barrow Island.
Tries from Scott Davidson and Phil Braddish, both goaled by Jonno Smith sent the Bulls into a 12-0 lead before prop Jordan Herdman crossed for the Cumbrians and Mike Wilson added the goal.
Phil Braddish and Alan Reddicliff added tries for the Bulls and two more Smith goals made it 24-6 at the break.
John Braddish added a fifth try soon after the break and brother Phil popped over the goal.
The Islanders showed some spirit to claim a second try from Gareth Shaw, but Sub Paul Cragg (2) and Ryan Brown took the try tally to eight and Smith landed two more goals.
Loose forward Matthew Parkinson starred for Barrow Island, with Phil Braddish in devastating form for the Warrington side.
Once again the league programme was decimated by the weather taking th backlog to more than 300 games .
Already the Challenge Cup- and Bowl competitions have been
abandoned and there is a danger the Premiership Cup will go the same way.
