BARLA YORKSHIRE COUNTY CUP PREVIEW
All roads lead to the Chris Moyles Stadium, (Featherstone Rovers RLFC) for today’s ‘High Noon’ BARLA Yorkshire County Cup Final when holders Sharlston Rovers of the Pennine League Premier Division clash with CMS Yorkshire Unison League Premier Division side Hunslet Old Boys. As well as cup rivalry there is also the added spice of each leagues pride on the line which will without doubt make this an even feistier contest.
Given last weeks total ‘white out’ of all amateur games both sides will have been fully prepared for today and all players will be ready and fresh for the proceedings to begin.
Two weeks ago Sharlston Rovers continued their unbeaten league run with a 40-22 victory over Kippax Welfare and are currently in second spot with games in hand over leaders Drighlington. That same weekend Hunslet Old Boys went down in their ‘derby’ at Hunslet Warriors (last years Cup Finalists) 26-12 and are currently seventh in their league having won only one of four games played to date.
On paper Sharlston Rovers are clear favourites but nothing is ever won on paper but the Old Boys will be hoping to collect the cup for the first time in their history after being formed ten years ago.
