Wakefield ARL Match Previews for the 3rd November

Sharlston Rovers see BARLA Yorkshire Cup action for the second successive week following their third round demolition of Dodworth.

This week Rovers, who are the Wakefield ARL’s sole survivors in the competition, play host to Hull side Skirlaugh Bulls.
Sharlston, unbeaten so far this season should expect to reach the semi final stages with a win over the Bulls who incidentally, ended Crigglestone’s Yorkshire Cup hopes.

National Conference League action this week includes Eastmoor Dragons, who will be eager to gain a result when they travel to Leigh East.

Chris Chester’s men have slipped into the losing habit in recent weeks and know that they must turn the results around soon, to avoid an early battle against relegation. Easts however, who are currently fifth in the premier table and only three points adrift of the leaders, could well prove difficult to beat and disappointment may be the result for ’Moor.

In division 2 both Wakefield sides suffered defeats last week, Stanley Rangers seem to have hit a bad patch in recent weeks and with three consecutive losses, a long trip to cumbria to face Egremont who are level on points with Rangers, isn’t at the top of Gary Lord’s shopping list.

Meanwhile John Barnett will be insisting that his troops at Normanton Knights will be getting last weeks loss at Millom out of their system by the best way possible, with a home win against Crossfields.

The previously unbeaten Knights lost their division two leaders status following last week’s reversal and lowly Crossfields could well feel the backlash from the wounded Knights.

There are two Wakefield ARL derbies in the CMS Yorkshire League. In Unison Premier, Upton face Kettlethorpe and after a mauling from Queens in their last game, Ketty will not relish the short trip to Quarry Lane.

In Unison Division One, in form Kinsley will be looking to tame Crofton Cougars when they meet at Hemsworth High School. The Raiders became the first side to beat Batley Boys last week, while Crofton’s below par form indicates strongly to a probable home win.

Finally in the Pennine League, Division One high riders, Ackworth and Crigglestone will be hoping to continue with their great starts to the season.

The Jaguars face a tricky trip to Huddersfield where they will take on Moldgreen, while the unbeaten All Blacks enjoy home advantage when Illingworth are the visitors.

A win for both teams would keep them neck and neck near the top of the table but Ackworth currently second must be on top of their game to avoid a slip against fifth placed Moldgreen.

Third placed Crig would seem to have the easier game of the afternoon against the third from bottom Halifax outfit.
