Insurance
There are 3 mandatory insurance policies in place covering Public Liability, Personal Accident and Death by Natural Causes. Experience over many years has shown the only way to ensure all clubs have appropriate insurance protection is for cover to be arranegd on a compulsory basis in this way.
For full details of the scope of these policies please refer to the "Frequently Asked Questions" section of the website.
Although permanently disabling injuries are thankfully rare in Rugby League the financial implications of such injuries can be very significant and it is recommended that players and clubs consider whether additional cover is appropriate for their own personal circumstances.
Any player or club wishing to take out additional cover over and above that provided by the mandatory policy can do so by contacting by contacting Alan Tickner on 01642 615611 (email: alan.tickner@smartandcook.co.uk).
3 Game Rule
To assist development of the game and help newly formed club's get started insurers have agreed to provide cover under all mandatory policies for new clubs without charge until the club has played 3 games. For the purposes of this agreement Festivals, 9-a-side tournaments and the like are deemed to be 1 game.
In order to benefit from this free cover clubs must have registered with BARLA, via West Yorkshire House on Tel: 01484 510682 Fax: 01484 510682 Email: info@barla.org.uk, as a register of such clubs is maintained as a requirement of insurers. Once the third game has been played the full premiums must be paid to ensure cover remains in force."
